Morning Meditations: Relationships

Lets look at the same verse from several different translations:

Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. (KJV)

To be blessed is to be happy. To find true happiness we must reject what the world tells us we need to do.

Psalmss 1:1 God blesses those people who refuse evil advice and won't follow sinners or join in sneering at God. (Contemporary English Version)

The price so often of following after the world is our happiness. We must sanctify ourselves instead of following along.

Psalm 1:1 How well God must like you— you don't hang out at Sin Saloon, you don't slink along Dead-End Road, you don't go to Smart-Mouth College. (The Message)

We must be especially careful of what we say. Scorning, sneering, having a smart mouth are all witness against the the Holy Spirit. No one will ever desire Christ if they don't see a change in our life.

Lord, guide and direct our footsteps. Help us to stand against the temptation to follow the crowd. Give us grace that we might be able to control our tongues. In Jesus name, Amen.
