From my morning devotion:
Genesis 1:22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply...
also:
Genesis 1:8 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
On the fifth and sixth days, after he created all the fish, birds, beasts and man, his command was be fruitful and multiply. God calls that a blessing.
What is the greatest command according to Jesus?
Matthew 22:36-40 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
But as a command and a concept of blessing, being fruitful and multiplying is found ten times before loving God is even mentioned (Deuteronomy 6:5).
Lord, help us to keep not only your greatest commands but the one you repeat time and again. Help us to see our multiplication as a blessing and not a curse. In Jesus name, Amen.
