From my morning devotion:
Genesis 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
also:
Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Here we have a picture of two different fathers. One teaches his children and runs his household well. The other drives his children far from the truth, not by his own lack of action but because he ruled his house like a tyrant. What a drastic comparison of reward.
Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Don't punish you kids in bursts and fits of anger. Bring them up to love the Lord. Train, discipline, train.
Lord, help us to be the fathers you want us to be. Help our wives to encourage us to be the men you want us to be and help single women to find godly men of great character. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
