From my morning devotion:
Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
also:
Proverbs 13:5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.
As we read through the word of God there are certain words that should really grab our attention. Whenever God says that he doesn't like something, that's what we need to avoid. It's not just the normal lying, murder & adultery. If you know the kinds of words to look for, you can discover the real desire of God for our behavior.
Psalm 119:163 I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.
Certain things don't change. If there's a sin that God hates, he's always going to hate it. We've got to get his mind on this.
Lord, give us wisdom and grace. Help us to read your word in light of what we're doing wrong instead of trying to justify our own sinful lifestyle. Hide your word in our heart that we might not sin against you. In Jesus name, Amen.
