Morning Meditations: Prophecy

From my morning devotion:

Acts 1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

also:

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Numbers mean something. Numbers in prophecy mean even more. From the beginning of Jesus ministry, he said that the time was at hand.

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

No one will know when that day comes. If there's a human recordable event which e could observe, we would know how long we have. Prophecies for the Church always refer to to times and ages instead of a set time.

Jeremiah 25:11,12 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. 12 And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.

When you see prophecies that refer to specific periods of time, you should be alert that this prophecy is speaking specifically about Israel.

Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

So when will the Lord return? When will we see a rapture? Who know? We should live our lives always prepared for that day!

Lord, draw me nearer to you. I want a personal relationship with you. Teach me your scriptures as I read them. Transform my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
