Food on Friday: Phil's Apple Crisp Recipe

Here's a quick & easy desert recipe for you to try. I based it on one I found for Apple Crunch.

Phil's Apple Crisp

3 medium apples
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup quick oats
1/2 cup soft margarine
1/4 tsp. each cinnamon and nutmeg

Wash apples, peel, core, and thin slice them. Put in well buttered pan (using non-stick cooking spray also works). Combine other ingredients and spread over apples. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

Let stand 5-10 minutes after removing from oven. Serve with ice cream on top.

Makes 4-8 servings.

If you want to make it crunchy instead of crispy, use large apples & slice them thick, 1/4 cup of butter instead of the margarine, and bake it for only 35 minutes (I had to bake it a little longer due to the extra liquid).
