Morning Meditations: No Tresspassing

From my morning devotion:

Genesis 31:48-52 And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed; 49 And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another. 50 If thou shalt afflict my daughters, or if thou shalt take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness betwixt me and thee. 51 And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have cast betwixt me and thee: 52 This heap be witness, and this pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.

also:

Proverbs 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

We laughed at the old men, sometimes in our heart sometimes with our mouth.

"That's such an old attitude."

"That Bible doesn't mean anything anymore."

"I don't see what the problem is, it's just a movie."

They had watch over our souls, they setup the landmarks. They told us, "You can go this far and no farther".

We ignored their rules and shuffled out from underneath their protection. Now we are paying the price: a tyrannical government, increased crime, teen pregnancy, abortion, the list goes on and on and on.

Jeremiah 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

It's time that we grew up. The nonsense that passes for church these days hasn't worked, it's not working, and it's not going to work.

Lord, help us to find the old paths. Help us to understand and apply your word to our hearts. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
