From my morning devotion:
Proverbs 8:1,17 1 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? 17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
also:
Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: 5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7nd thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
What is it we're teaching our children. Everywhere we look throughout the Bible, we are commanded to instruct our children. God says that the primacy of the parent in education is absolute. We must teach our children God's word.
Luke 6:40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
By giving our child's education over to professionals, we have given them over to whatever curriculum they choose. Do you know what they're teaching your children? Does their education match up with your views and values?
Ephesians 6:1-4 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. 4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Fathers, we are specifically responsible for the instruction of their children. If we're not teaching our children about the Bible, demonstrating a Godly lifestyle, and disciplining our children, we are living a life in sin. We are disobeying specific biblical commands.
Lord, forgive us for not instructing our children. Help us to teach our children about you everyday. Bless our lives so that we might be able to homeschool our children. In Jesus name, Amen.
