Morning Meditations: Pride

From my morning devotion:

Proverbs 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

Pride is a pernicious thing. We must deal with immediately! It cause separation from others in the church.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

If we're all puffed up with pride, we can't make others feel good because we're always bragging about what we've done.

Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Pride causes us to look down on those who are behind us spiritually. It causes us to rejoice when those ahead fall.

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

We can't prefer or honor others if we're constantly trying to get the best seats, or take the first place in line at fellowship.

Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

We won't be serving others if we're constantly serving ourselves.

Heavenly Father, help us to mortify our flesh. If there's anything in us that is proud or boastful take it away! In Jesus name, amen.
