From my morning devotion:
Romans 15:3-4 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. 4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
also:
Titus 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
You must be justified by grace through faith. Don't think that you can do it on your own. You can never do enough good to get God to give you his grace.
1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Over and over again, throughout the New Testament, God speaks of having hope. We can have hope that when we die, we can go to heaven. Hope that the suffering of this life will eventually lead somewhere better.
Heavenly Father, give us true hope. Help us to trust in you alone for our salvation. Allow us to see life through your eyes. In Jesus name, amen.
