Morning Meditations: Peculiar Treasure

From my morning devotion:

Exodus 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

also:

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Sometimes when we read through the Bible we get the idea that God is this cosmic ogre, just waiting to whack us whenever we do something wrong. This is simple not true! He wants you to follow Him so that you can bring glory to Him.

Zechariah 2:8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

When we become His people, we become the apple of His eye! Other scriptures refer to Him as the good father. He loves us so much!

Heavenly Father, we thank you for all the good things that you do for us. We thank you for keeping us and loving us. In Jesus name, amen.
