From my morning devotion:
Exodus 21:22-25 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. 23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, 24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
also:
Jeremiah 1:5a Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee;
God has a sweet spot for the unborn. All throughout scripture it is bore out. The sovereign Lord of the universe has a purpose for each and every person, even before conception.
Judges 13:5 For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
We subvert the purposes of God whenever we end the life of an unborn child. Whether it's from the hand of a "doctor" or we us an abortifacient such as birth control pill.
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Heavenly Father, reward us richly. We want to accomplish your purposes. Make our lives a blessing and not a curse. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
