From my morning devotion:
Exodus 22:28 Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.
also:
Titus 3:1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
We must be careful in our dealings with people outside our families and churches. When dealing with a government, whether they be just or not, we must seek to live in peace with the rulers and courts. Two things we must never allow our government to do are these: sin and stop witnessing.
Daniel 4:17 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
God even ordains poor rulers. Sometimes God puts His people to the fire so that they will turn back to Him, or to perfect them.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
God wills that all men come to salvation. For all to know the truth. We should pray for our bad rulers as well as our good ones.
Heavenly Father, bless our land with good leadership. May the rulers you have ordained live a long fruitful life. Help them to make good choices. Please bring them to salvation. In Jesus name, amen.
