Morning Meditations: 1 Corinthians 1:12,13 - What Are You Called?

1 Corinthians 1:12,13 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. 13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

Ever try to witness to someone? I'm sure you've gotten this kind of response. "I'm Pentecostal" or "I'm Methodist" or "I'm Baptist". This is exactly what Paul is talking about here. But I tell you, it should not be so!

Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

The only moniker given by the Bible for followers of Christ is Christian.

1 Peter 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

We should suffer as Christians, don't be ashamed! Live the life!

Acts 26:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

What are we trying to persuade people to become? Don't we want them to join the body of Christ? Teach them to identify with Him!

Matthew 3:1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

Baptist is the only denominational name mentioned in the King James Version. If you believe that the KJV is true then how can you call yourself by that name? John was THE Baptist not A Baptist.

Heavenly Father, I will never be ashamed to identify with Your Son's name. I will live and teach and walk in the Christian way. In Jesus name, amen.
