Morning Meditations: 1 Corinthians 1:10,11 - What Are You Contending For?

1 Corinthians 1:10,11 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

We should all be of the same mind. When we start fighting amongst ourselves we present a distorted image of salvation.

Proverbs 18:19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

There are always consequences to fighting. If we offend our brother in Christ we break fellowship. Only when we are in full fellowship with each other can we do our part in our local church.

Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

This is the only thing we are supposed to contend for. We must never turn from what it says in the Bible. No matter how hard it is or what is asked of us.

Heavenly Father, strengthen us for the days ahead. We want to do your will and have fellowship with you and each other. In Jesus name, amen.
