Morning Meditations: 1 Corinthians 1:1 - The Mouth of Two Witnesses

1 Corinthians 1:1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

also:

Deuteronomy 19:15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

God knows about the unreliability of people. As long as we are in the flesh, we will never be perfect. According to the Jewish justice system, it took two people to bear witness to sin.

Matthew 18:15-16 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

Jesus firmly established this as the church norm. Paul and Sosthenes' firmly established the sin of the Corinthian church.

Titus 3:10,11 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

Heresy has to be dealt with swiftly. After admonitions have been given, they must be reject. They have shown themselves not to be Christians.

Revelation 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

One day God will send two witnesses to this world to preach and then judge the world. Let's try to help as many as people as we can to get to Heaven.

Heavenly Father, keep us mindful of the time we live in. Help us to reach out to people who are hurting and lost. In Jesus name, amen.
